The Nigerian Institute For Oceaonography and Marine Research (NIOMR) has been upgraded from its present status as National Centre of Excellence to a higher status known as Regional Centre of Excellence.
This status upgrade was done by The West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF) after a 3 day evaluation exercise, which focused on the Achievements of the Institute for the past 5 years, its Manpower and Scientific Infrastructure.
