Queen Roselyn Concludes Pet Project With Visit To Queens College

The reigning Queen, Face of Maritime International, Queen Roselyn Kanyisola Olanisimi has on July 4th 2025 concluded her statutory pet project by taking the Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign program to the popular Queens College, Yaba-Lagos.

Platform Reporters gathered that it was another successful program, thanks to Mrs Eunice Ezeoke, FOMI Role Model Ambassador and Engr Mrs Mariam Chuks, Chief Engineer, L.T.T Coastal and Marine Services Ltd who both delivered Career talks that captivated and motivated the students to consider taking maritime career path.

Recall that the Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign project is a catch-them-young program designed to sensitize, motivate and encourage secondary school girls in Nigeria to take career at sea by choosing to study maritime related course at their tertiary education level. The project which is a conception of Face of Maritime International (FOMI) was flagged off in June 2017.

Since then, successive FOMI Queens have been championing the program as their pet-project by visiting several girls secondary schools across the country with other maritime resource persons  to enlighten the schools girls about career opportunities for women in the maritime sector, using the slogan, ‘maritime is not only for men!’

After her coronation as Face Of Maritime International on Sept 22, 2024, Queen Roselyn hit the ground running by carrying out her statutory pet-project called Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign with the first program held at Lagos Anglican Girls Grammar School, Surulere Lagos on December 9th, 2024.

By February 25th, 2025, Queen Rose held her second program at Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, Oregun Ikeja, and later visited Anglican Comprehensive High School, Ipaja, Lagos on July 2nd, 2025 before the final program at Queens College on July 4th 2025.

By completing the 4 pet-project executions within her one year reign, Queen Roselyn has met the statutory requirement expected of her by the organisers, and thus won the heart of FOMI management.

Meanwhile, the management of FOMI calls on good spirited individuals, companies and organisations to be part of the program by supporting the school enlightenment program through donation of souvenirs such as books, jotters, biros, etc  or by sponsoring a girl to take career at sea.
