MAAN, OAL, Akabogu Law Renew Collaboration With Platforms Communications On M-CAMP 

The Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria (MAAN), Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL) as well as Akabogu Law and Associates have all renewed their collaborative commitment with Platforms Communications in hosting the 2026 Maritime Career Mentoring Program (M-CAMP) for maritime law students. 

The Maritime Career Mentoring Program (M-CAMP) is an interactive mentorship platform and capacity building initiative designed to bring maritime students, aspiring and young maritime professionals face to face with industry experts for the purpose of mentorship, transfer of practical industry knowledge and provision of career guidance in a way that guarantees succession plan for the sustainable growth of the maritime industry. 

Pioneered by Platforms Communications since 2016, M-CAMP has become a quarterly mentoring platform and an eye-opener to many maritime students and young marine professionals who leverage the platform to gain practical industry knowledge beyond the class room, learn and network with seasoned industry professionals. 

In a separate communication messages to the Convener of  M-CAMP and CEO of Platforms Communications, Mr Sylvanus Obasi, the three organisations reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the project and participating as collaborators to provide resource persons who would mentor and guide the law students in their maritime law careers. 

According to a letter sent last week to Platforms Communications and co-signed by the President and the Secretary of MAAN,  Chief Mrs Jean Chiazor-Anishere, SAN, and Mrs Foluke Akinmoladun respectively, the association wrote in part, “…We are happy to support your outstanding organisation in its laudable project of providing professional skills and training for our teeming students who are aspiring to become maritime arbitrators.

“Please note that one of our esteemed past presidents, in the person of Mr Adewale Jones, FCIArb will be leading our Honourable Secretary, and two other experts to your event. 

“…As always, we wish you a successful outing,” the letter concluded. 

Also in its own confirmation message, Olisa Agbakoba Legal equally communicated its support for the project and informed Platforms Communications that Barr Cornelius Gabriel, a Maritime and Dispute Resolution Counsel from OAL will be representing the law firm at the program. 

Similarly, Akabogu and Associates also confirmed its collaboration in the areas of speaking role as a mentor, presentation of gift items to deserving students/participants and provision of logistic support. 

The 2026 Maritime Career Mentoring Program for admiralty students is scheduled to hold on Friday, May 27 at the Training Room of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Apapa – Lagos.

Expected to be in attendance are maritime law students from the  University of Lagos, Akoka (UNILAG); Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Osun state; Lagos State University Ojo (LASU) and the University of Ibadan (UI), Oyo state.

Other interested young and aspiring maritime lawyers are also welcomed into the free mentoring program designed to impact and encourage the students in their maritime career aspirations.
