Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has reiterated the Service’s dedication to impactful community-based projects under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
Speaking at the commissioning of renovated facilities at Methodist Primary School, Ibeshe, Ikorodu, Lagos, undertaken by the Lilypond Export Command, Adeniyi emphasized that education remains the bedrock of building a better society. He noted that the project reflects NCS’s resolve to support communities nationwide through sustainable interventions.
The CGC explained that the initiative, originally conceived as the renovation of a dilapidated classroom block, was expanded to cover other buildings, culminating in a total upgrade of the school’s infrastructure. He commended former Area Controller Comptroller Ajibola Odusanya (rtd) for initiating the project and praised his successor, Comptroller Samuel Ariyibi, for ensuring continuity and completion.
Adeniyi highlighted that NCS has executed several CSR projects across Nigeria, including interventions in health facilities, provision of potable water, and empowerment initiatives. He assured stakeholders that completed projects would be periodically monitored to ensure maintenance and sustainability.
The CGC expressed gratitude to the traditional ruler of Ibeshe, community leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders for their support. He stressed that the conducive learning environment created by the intervention would inspire pupils to excel academically and eventually give back to their alma mater.

Comptroller Ajibola Odusanya (rtd) described the CGC as a “goal-getter,” noting that the successful completion of the project demonstrates NCS’s commitment to community development. He recalled initial skepticism from community members but said continued engagement built confidence in the intervention.
Mrs. F.T. Oyetoye, the Headmistress thanked the NCS for the renovation, describing it as a significant boost to teaching and learning. She emphasized that the improved infrastructure would enhance pupils’ academic performance and commended the CGC’s impactful leadership. She also acknowledged the support of the BFD MFAP Initiative for partnering in the effort.
