Foremost maritime journalist, gender advocate and social innovator, Mr Sylvanus Offorka Obasi has been honoured with Fellowship Award by Crown Maritime Academy, a leading private maritime training institute in Nigeria.
The Fellowship Investiture was conferred on Mr Sylvanus and four others by the Chairman, Board of Fellows of CMA, Rear Admiral G.S.A. Ombo, (rtd) and the CMA Rector, Dr. Musa Akinyemi during the 10th Convocation and Matriculation Ceremony of the Academy held recently in Lagos.
Speaking while addressing the new Fellows, the Rector, Crown Maritime Academy, Dr. Musa Akinyemi challenged the new Fellows to be good ambassadors as the academy would always count on their benevolence towards the growth of the institute.

“Our Academy will be glad to specially count on the benevolence of the Special Awardees as we are ready to be assisted with the little or much they could deem us worthy of, just to further the cause of education and development at the Academy and the society at large. We wish to remain proud of all of you always,” said Dr. Akinyemi.
Speaking on behalf of the new Fellows, Mr Sylvanus Obasi thanked the Management of CMA for honouring them and pledged to partner the Academy towards growth and development of the school.

He also urged the graduating and matriculating students to find motivation within and strive to make positive impacts in the society by being good ambassadors of the Academy.
Also honoured with the Fellowship Award at the occasion included: Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, National President of Africa Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON); Mr. Sesan Onileimo, Publisher/Editor in Chief, Shipping Position Daily; Dr Taiwo Oshigbo and Dr Kehinde Oshigbo both are Senior Maritime Lecturers.
