Compt Iheanacho Hands Over 6240 Explosives To DSSS

The Customs Area Controller of Kebbi Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Compt Ernest Iheanacho today handed over a total of 6,240 pieces of cap sensitive dynamite explosives to the Department of State Security Service (DSS).

PLATFORM REPORTERS gathered that on Wednesday, the 6th day of July 2022 at about 071Shrs, a team of Joint Border Patrol Team (JBPT) while on intelligence-based patrol intercepted an item suspected to be explosives along Yauri-Jega road in Kebbi State.

The team was comprised of Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria immigration Service, Department of State Service, and Nigerian Army led by Chief Superintendent of Customs AA Ibrahim (now Assistant Comptroller of Customs).

A Joint examination was conducted in presence of relevant units (Customs Intelligence Unit, Customs Police Unit and Command officers) and the suspected item was found out to contain 40 cartons and sacks totaling 6,240 pieces of cap sensitive dynamite explosives (Super Power 90) loaded on white canter with registration number zur 882 ZY. A haojue motor bike with registration number JEG-562 UQ was also seized alongside the items.

Two (2) suspects were apprehended alongside the detained items; Abdullahi Aliyu (owner of the vehicle) and Alh. Mustapha Garba Jega (receiver of the Consignment). The two (2) suspects have since been charged to court where they are remanded.

The handing/taking over ceremony held today with the Department of State Security Services as the agency responsible for handling such cases in the spirit of inter-agency collaboration and for continued investigation.
