Platforms Communications Holds Yet Another Successful M-CAMP For Cadets, Young Seafarers

It’s yet another successful 11th edition of Maritime Career Mentorship Programme (M-CAMP) held last Friday by Platforms Communications at the Nigerian Shippers Council for students of Shipping Management, Marine Engineering, Nautical Sciences, Maritime Security and Safety Management, Cadets as well as young Seafarers. 

PLATFORM REPORTERS learnt the event was a huge success, thanks to the excellent presentations and perspectives by the Panel of Mentors comprising, Dr Dayo Mobereola, DG NIMASA who was ably represented by Mr Yusuf Barde, Deputy Director, Seafarers Standards, Maritime Labour Department of NIMASA;  Capt Tajudeen Alao, President of Nigerian Association of Master Mariners (NAMM) who was represented by the 1st Vice President of the Association, Capt O.N Iwebuke.

Others include, Engr Fatai Adeyemi, E.D Operations of NIMASA, ably represented by the Assistant Director, ISPS unit of NIMASA; Capt Ogunsakin William, President, FCFMT Alumni and Mrs Rollens Macfoy, COO Ocean Deep Services Ltd.

The organisers, Platforms Communications expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Shippers Council for availing a befitting and conducive venue always for the program, as well as to NIMASA, NAMM and Ocean Deep for their collaboration and sponsorship support in making the 11th edition a great success.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Platforms Communations, Mr Sylvanus Obasi, “Many thanks also to the students/participants from Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology (FCFMT) Victoria Island, Lagos;  Institute of Transport and Management Technology (ITMT) Badagry; Merchant Marine Training Academy (MMTA), Apapa; Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron; Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko Delta State; LAMB Academy, Ijedodo Ijegun and Marine Engineering Students of Yaba College of Technology, respectively for their participation”.

Obasi revealed that the 11th edition of M-CAMP was facilitated by Queen Olaide Olaoye, the newly 2024  Ambassador, Face Of Maritime International (FOMI) as part of her pet project for a one year service reign.

He added that the next edition of M-CAMP coming up in March 2025  would be for Maritime Law students.

M-CAMP is an interactive mentorship platform and capacity building initiative designed to bring maritime students, aspiring and young maritime professionals face to face with industry experts for the purpose of mentorship, transfer of practical industry knowledge and provision of career guidance in a way that guarantees succession plan for the sustainable growth of the industry. 

The programme is powered by the office of the Ambassador, Face of Maritime International (FOMI), but promoted and managed Platforms Communications and Sylvapet Platform Services Ltd respectively.
