Platforms Communications Highlights 2024 Programs, Activities With Success Stories

Year 2024 may have ended, but the programmes and activities of Platforms Communications last year continue to reverberate the entire maritime sector and beyond. As we begin our business activities for year 2025, it’s only necessary that we take a cursory look at the programs and activities of Platforms Communications and how they impacted the Nigerian maritime sector in the previous year. 

1. On March 15, 2024, Platforms Communications in collaboration with the Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA) and Maritime Arbitrator  Association of Nigeria (MAAN) held the first quarter edition of Maritime Career Mentorship Programme (M-CAMP) meant for maritime law students drawn from LASU, OAU & UNILAG. 

2. On May 27, 2024, Platforms Communications marked its 10th Anniversary by hosting the 8th edition of its Annual Maritime Students And Youth (AMSAY) Conference also known as ‘A Day With Nigerian Maritime Students’.

Anchored under the theme, “Solving The Challenges Of Nigerian Maritime Students”, the event featured Speech-Making Competition; Paper Presentations and Panel Discussions; including Awards for Best Graduating Maritime Students where a total of #950,000 was won as Award Cash Prize by different outstanding maritime students. 

3. Precisely on August 16, 2024 Platforms Communications, hosted the 3rd edition of Maritime Career Mentorship Programme (M-CAMP) for students of Shipping Management, Transport & Logistics; Ports and Terminal Management as well as Young Freight Forwarders.

4. From Sept 14-22, 2024, Platforms Communications held the one week Camping and Grand Finale of 9th Edition of Face Of Maritime International (FOMI) where Queen Roselyn Olanisimi, Miss NSC emerged the 2024/25 Winner of FOMI. While Queen Olaide Olaoye, Miss L.T.T and Queen Mira Idididi, Miss FMMBE emerged the First and Second Runners Up respectively and the trio won a total of two million Naira as empowerment cash prizes.

5. On October 11, 2024, Platforms held the last quarter edition of the Maritime Career Mentorship Programme (M-CAMP) for students of Marine Engineering, Nautical Sciences, Maritime Security & Safety Mgt, Cadets, Officers, Ratings and Young Seafarers. 

6. November 21, 2024, the Management of Platforms Communications together with the newly crowned Face Of Maritime International Queens paid a courtesy visit to the Management of L.T.T Coastal and Marine Services Ltd in appreciation of the company’s support for gender inclusivity in the Nigerian maritime sector.

7. December 9, 2024, Face Of Maritime International kicked off the pet project of the newly crowned FOMI Queen by organising Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign programme at Lagos Anglican Girls Grammar School Surulere where over 350  secondary school girls were sensitized and encouraged to explore career at sea. 

8. On December 20, 2024, Platforms Communications ended it’s programmes for the year with a courtesy visit to Melsmore Marine Nigeria Ltd to discuss areas of collaboration and also appreciate the company for employing a  former FOMI Queen, Miss Grace Omede who is currently working onboard their vessel as 3rd Engineer. 

This marked the end of Platforms Communications programmes and activities for year 2024. It was indeed a busy and impactful year for us. 

As we begin our 2025 activities this January, we can only hope things get better in our country as we continue to contribute our quota towards the development of Nigerian maritime sector in particular and the empowerment of Nigerian youths in general.
