NPCC, London Ports Consultative Council To Partner On Port Efficiency

The Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC) is set to forge a strategic partnership with the London Ports Consultative Council to enhance efficiency at Nigerian seaports.

Platform Reporters gathered that the NPCC Chairman, Mr. Bolaji Sunmola, disclosed this at a quarterly meeting in Lagos, which also featured the inauguration of the NPCC pioneer Board of Trustees (BOT).

Highlights of the meeting includes: Strategic Partnership where a delegation of NPCC will travel to London to explore and exchange ideas to reform and reposition Nigeria’s maritime sector.

Digitalization: The event’s theme, “Digital Information and Data Management for Sustainable Marine and Blue Economy,” highlights the importance of technology-driven frameworks in harnessing the nation’s ocean resources.

Board of Trustees: The NPCC pioneer Board of Trustees was inaugurated, comprising eminent personalities with experience and strategic oversight.

According to the NPCC President, Bolaji Sunmola, “Every inefficiency at the port gate ripples across our national productivity. Every delay in customs processing translates to lost revenue. Every misalignment in our regulatory framework weakens investor confidence.”

Also speaking, the Deputy President of NPCC, Jean Chiazor Anishere (SAN) said, “The new NPCC has been registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) which beefs up its legitimacy and operational integrity.”

 She also highlighted the achievements of the council to include the following:

  1. Memorandum of Understanding: NPCC entered an MoU with Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for their re-engineering process.

2. Partnerships: NPCC partnered with the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) to improve port efficiency and trainings.

3. Global Network: NPCC is expanding its network globally, with a stand secured for the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2025 in Houston, Texas.
