NIMASA-BEAP Timeline Is Our Bond With Nigerians – Mrs. Obianyor

By Platform Reporters

LAGOS – Director, Reform Coordination, Strategic Management & Blue Economy Unit, NIMASA, Mrs. Nneka Obianyor, says the one thing that separates announcements from achievements is timeline.

Obianyor stated this while presenting the Implementation Timeline for the NIMASA Blue Economy Accelerator Programme, NIMASA-BEAP, and National Innovation Hackathon at the high-level unveiling in Lagos on Wednesday.

According to her, NIMASA-BEAP is not a promise waiting for a future date, but a machine already in motion, and the calendar published is NIMASA’s bond with the Nigerian people.

She gave the timeline as follows:

– Sept 16: Unveiling and media engagement for national mobilisation

– Oct 5 – Nov 13: Call for Innovators opens and closes

– Nov 16 – Dec 2: Independent experts evaluation and due diligence

– Dec 8 – 10: National Innovation Hackathon for finest innovators from six geo-political zones

– Q1 2027: Twelve-week Accelerator to build winning ventures

– Early Q2 2027: Demo Day to connect ventures to investors, industry and market

Mrs. Obianyor stressed that every stage has an owner, a budget and a verification mechanism – grant agreements and disbursement acknowledgments, delivered-hours timesheets, post-event attendance and reach reports.

_“Our sponsors will never be asked to trust us; they will be shown the documents. That is not a brochure timeline. It is a management instrument,” she said.

She explained the human meaning: a young innovator in Kafanchan, Yenagoa or Lagos who applies on October 5, will scale through independent scrutiny in November, build under national lights in December, get mentored in Q1 2027, and stand before investors on Demo Day – from application to investment readiness in roughly six months.

Obianyor called on innovators nationwide to prepare as portal opens Oct 5 and window is fixed, on sponsors and partners that sponsorship tiers are open today with strongest positions for earliest commitments, and on universities, hubs and ecosystem partners across six zones that mobilisation begins this week.

_“The Hackathon finds the talent. The Accelerator builds the ventures. Industry and investors create the pathway to scale. And the timeline is where all of it becomes real. The calendar is running. It will not pause, and it will not rewind,”  she said.
