FOMI Honours Jolapomo, Adeyanju, Alao, Others With Maritime Doyens Award

The Face Of Maritime International (FOMI) has  instituted a new industry honour, the Maritime Doyens (MD) Award, and honoured the Chairman and Chief Executive of Morplat Group, Chief Isaac Jolapomo; the President, Nigerian Association of Master Mariners (NAMM), Capt Tajudeen Alao and the President – General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Com Prince Adewale Adeyanju as the pioneer recipients of the new Award honours.

Other 2024 awardees of the industry  honour  include: Former Director-General of NIMASA and Principal Partner of TRK Solicitors, Barr Temisan Omatseye, Maritime Consultant and Senior Lecturer, Capt Fola Ojutalayo; Director of Maritime Safety and Security, Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Babatunde Bombata; and President of African Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics in Nigeria (APFFLON) Otunba Frank Ogunojemite. 

The awards were presented to the receipients at the 2024 Grand Finale of Face Of Maritime International tagged “A Night Of Beauty and Women Empowerment” which held last Sunday in Lekki-Lagos.

In a press statement issued in Lagos after the occasion, the Executive Director of FOMI, Mr Sylvanus Obasi stated that the Maritime Doyens (MD) Award was instituted as a male version of the Maritime Amazons (MA) Award which was earlier instituted by FOMI since 2019.

Obasi explained that the MD Awards aims to indentify, honour and celebrate exceptional male maritime professionals who have made significant impact in the  maritime sector through their respective field of professions. 

He said the objective is to tell the uncommon stories of these uncommon men in other to motivate the younger generation of men to aspire for a life of greatness and impact for the development of the industry in particular and the well-being of humanity in general.
