Compt Onyeka Set To Deploy B’Odogwu Technology To Tincan Command

The integration of advanced technologies such as Blockchain, E – Customs platform and the artificial intelligence have all worked to enhance the speed of cargo clearance and have reinforced the Service’s commitment towards meeting global best practices in the pilot phase of B’Odogwu initiative at the PTML Command.

This was the submission of the Customs Area Controller of the Tin Can Island Port Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka while assuring the Ports industry Stakeholders of his plan to deploy B’Odogwu, the Customs trade facilitation tool, at his Command , due to the huge result and the impact it made at the PTML Command.

Even without keying into the system, Comptroller Onyeka was happy to announce the Command’s revenue generation success of eighty six billion naira so far, for the month of January, noting that the Command stands a chance to meet and surpass its assigned target for the year, as he is ready to match action with words.

The Customs Boss stated this while speaking at the year 2025 World Customs Day, held at Command’s Base in Tin Can Island Port, Apapa Lagos.

Speaking on the theme of the event, ” Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity”, he noted that trade facilitation remained a cornerstone of the Service and Tin Can Island Port Command has adopted innovative approaches towards streamlining processes, reducing delays and enhancing the ease of doing business at the Command.

On the benefits to derive from the Unified Customs Management System referred to as B’Odogwu, Comptroller Onyeka explained that its usage at his Command would ensure standard automation procedures, would ensure transparency and reduction in human interference at the Command.

He therefore stressed the need for constant Stakeholders engagements for efficiency and the need to foster a strong partnership with the Terminal Operators, Freight Forwarding Associations, Shipping Companies as well as the Heads of the Regulatory Agencies to help in ensuring a collaborative synergy for seamless operations at the Commands.

Highlighting the benefits of the B’Odogwu tool, Comptroller Onyeka noted that the future application of big data analytics, featured in the System, has assisted the Service, in its ability to intercept illicit trade while also assisting the Customs service in, promoting legitimate trade.

He however urged his Officers and Men, to continue to adhere to commitment and consistent, professional and innovative service delivery in accordance with the dictates of the International Customs Day, 2025.
