NPA Mourns Ex-MD Bamanga Tukur, Hails Him As ‘Pillar Of Trade Facilitation’

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has joined the global trade community in mourning the passing of elder statesman and former NPA boss, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.

Tukur, who died on Saturday, 12th September 2026 at the age of 90, served as General Manager and Chief Executive of the NPA from 1975 to 1982.

In a statement signed by NPA General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications, Ikechukwu Onyemekara, Dr. Dantsoho described the late Tukur as a pillar of trade facilitation and an inspiration to many.

Dr. Dantsoho, who joined the Executive Governor of Adamawa State to receive the corpse of the business mogul, said:  

“On behalf of the entire Management and Staff of the NPA, I express our profound condolences and deepest sympathies to his immediate family, the Federal Republic of Nigeria and indeed the good people of Adamawa State on the demise of a pillar of trade facilitation and an inspiration to many.”
